Skype announced mid-month the release of the updated version of their app for the Windows Phone 8 – Skype 2.5.
The version, which officially went out of beta for that release, came with lots of fixes for issues commonly reported by beta users.
Some of the issues fixed for the release included greater stability at startup for Microsoft Accoung users, message notifications bugs, and video calling issues. There were no bug fixes or upgrades for any security issues, since Skype has perhaps already patched up a critical security flaw back in February for all Skype users and not just those on the Windows Phone.
When it comes to features though, the Skype for Windows Phone 8 does not really offer anything new. The only new feature, defining it from the beta version, is the “always on” default status for message notification feature for Messenger buddies. Still, with Skype declaring their app stable enough to go out of beta, users would probably be happier with it more reliable performance of the phones.
